This is not so much a department as it is an echelon of authority. The Commanding Officer (CO) and Executive Officer
(XO) are responsible for the fulfillment of the ship's mandate, completion of ship's missions, welfare of the crew, and the
welfare of the ship. These officers work on the bridge and are part of the senior staff.

The Operations (Ops) department is responsible for efficiently allocating the resources of the ship, ensuring there are
sufficient resources to carry out missions and daily functions. They are constantly in contact with all other departments.
Ops is responsible for distribution of power throughout the ship. Weapons, shields, deflector control, replicators, gravity
plating, life support, turbolifts, internal communications, transporters, and auxiliary systems are all things operations
officers must constantly monitor and control. When the need arises to reroute power to an area, Ops must compensate for the
increase or decrease on the other systems. Other duties include assigning docking space, ensuring that replicators are
sufficiently stocked, keeping an accurate inventory of cargo holds, and making sure that all other departments have
the equipment they need.
Helm (or helm control) is a term for the flight control operations onboard a starship or shuttle. Helm is responsible
for controlling the flight operations of the ship, including warp, impulse and thruster control. Helm is also responsible
for controlling the ship during a landing sequence or docking procedure.

The Legion is the Rihannsu equivalent of The Federation Marine Corps (FMC) serving as the personal combat forces of the
ship. The duty of Legionnaires is to serve as offensive units, board and take over enemy ships, and aide Security in
defensive manoeuvres. They are essentially the infantry units of the ship.
The Security department is charged with maintaining law and order on the ship. They are responsible for enforcing Rihannsu
law, manning the brig, keeping accurate inventory of the DS armory, and ensuring the general safety of the crew. Ultimately
their job is to keep the good guys in and the bad guys out or locked up. They are the police officers of ship and serve as
a line of defense against invaders.

The Engineering department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the ship's engines,
propulsion systems and other technology aboard. Led by the Chief Engineering Officer (CEO), the ship's engineers monitor and
control the flow and reaction of the matter-antimatter (warp) and fusion (impulse) engines and distribute the power produced
according to the needs of the ship, as determined by Naval procedure and the ship's Operations department. They
are often called upon to find ways to stretch systems well beyond their designed functions, and at its most intensive, engineers may
have to immediately design solutions to previously unfaced challenges. Transporter control and personnel fall under the
authority of the Engineering department.

The Medical department is responsible for the physical well-being of the crew. The duties of a medical officer include
manning and maintaining sickbay; tending to sick and injured patients; and determining whether crew members are physically
fit for duty. They are often called upon to work with the Science department to find cures for new and exotic diseases. The
head of the medical department is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
The Science department is responsible for collecting and analyzing gathered data in the course of the duty station’s
exploration. They are responsible for classifying discovered planets and species, analyzing flora, fauna, and geological samples,
and reporting on their findings. Science officers are usually the ones operating the tricorders. The head of the department
is the Chief Science Officer (CSO).
Fighter pilots fly small, single-occupant craft designed for maneuverability in dogfight scenarios in both planetary
and space settings. They are also often called upon to pilot shuttlecraft and runabouts on away missions.
The Tal Shiar is, the Federal Intelligence Agency
of the Rihannsu Empire, maintaining order and stability
among both civilians and the military. They have a broad scope of power, extending into all walks of
Rihannsu life, and all citizens are assured in their safety, knowing the Tal Shiar are everywhere,
watching for disloyalty and/or threats to the Empire.
There is often a Tal Shiar presence aboard
Romulan warbirds, to ensure things are running as they should and officers are loyal to the Empire. Reports
are sent back to the Tal Shiar Supreme Commander.
Starfleet officers serving aboard, acting as a Liaison between the Federation and Romulan Empire.
Klingon officers serving aboard, acting as a Liaison between the Klingon and Romulan Empires.
Federation Ambassadors are non-military officials from the Federation who oversee diplomatic ties with the Romulans.
They usually have their own staff to see to their needs - security, personal assistant, etc.
All Romulans serve in the military as NCO's (non-commissioned officers) for five years. If they are deemed acceptable
they are sent to the Academy and given further training. Only if they pass are they returned to a ship for service.
They are considered fourth year cadets, and one year is spent training in different areas and they attend classes. At
the end of the year they are assigned to whichever department they have excelled in. At this point they are promoted
to Erein and start their commission as officers.
In exceptional circumstances, officers can be demoted to final year cadets for disciplinary reasons.

Slavery is considered normal in Rihannsu culture. Slaves are assigned to individuals, houses, or services. Ship
slaves are resources serving the ship as a whole, and are usually assigned to a department in which they may have some skill
or training. Higher ranking officers will have access to personal slaves, who are there to serve their every need.
Many different races are Rihannsu slaves, including Hannri, Gorwah, Remans, Humans, Ocampans and Akaali.
